This coming weekend (17th/18th January) is the 50th anniversary of the Portes du Soleil. The ski area, which comprises of 12 resorts either side of the Swiss-French border, are marking the occasion by offering 50% off all lift passes for the weekend.
In addition to the discounted passes, there will be a prize draw at the top of the Grand Conche 6 man lift (Champèry – Les Crosets sector). Prizes include meals in restaurants around the Portes du Soleil ski area and two 2015-16 season passes! There are reported to be free aperitifs from 11am along with music, photo souvenirs in a 1950s style cable car, food, souvenirs and other goodies to be had (11am – 3pm, Saturday 17th January)!
If you have ever seen a torchlight descent and thought “I’d like to have a go at that”, then head over to the Pléney lift in Morzine at 16:30 on Saturday 17th January and you can join the ESF and ESS Portes du Soleil (free and open to all, register on site). The descent will end in front of the Tourist Office of Morzine, with fireworks and concert!
