A new twice weekly direct route from London Southend Airport to Sion in Switzerland kicks off on 14th December 2017.
Operated by Swiss based Powdair (we’ve never heard of them either) the Thursday and Saturday flights run through until 16th April 2018. Flights to Sion with Powdair are also available from Bristol, Edinburgh, Luton, Manchester and Southampton… so they’re definitely targeting the British market.
With a flight time of 1hr 33mins from Southend, Sion gives easy access to the resorts Crans Montana, Nendaz and Verbier. Saving you time on the usual train journey round from Geneva.
Powdair’s prices aren’t exactly cheap. All 1 week peak and off peak dates from Southend we tried on their (rather clunky) website came back as £290+ per person.
With prices like that it’s all going to come down to how much your travel time is worth should you be looking to ride on of those resorts. If you’re not in a rush then I can highly recommend the rather picturesque train journey round from Geneva to the Valais area, with beer, wine or cup of tea in hand.
