The 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi will feature ski and snowboard slopestyle events for the first time and as such interest in the course has been immense! Not only from riders and coaches eager to prep their potential gold medal runs but also from the media who are expecting the event to bring in the largest viewing figures for all snowboard disciplines. Make no mistake, slopestyle at the Winter Olympics is big deal and indeed BIG MONEY!
Now the wait is finally over and below are the recently released plans for the 635m course in Rosa Khutor.
Designed by Anders Forsell, Roberto Moresi and Davide Cerato, we’ve never heard of them either, who are the guys responsible for almost all things freestyle and slopestyle over at FIS. They took on board input from riders plus inspiration from other slopestyle courses around the world, and we think they’ve done a great job.
The top three features have ‘ninja creativity’ written all over them with some great flow and options, especially the 3rd feature which has a crazy side on looking kicker 2nd on the right.
Simply put we’re stoked to see such a well thought out course for the Olympics and fingers crossed that the events first outing is going to be one to remember, bring on 2014!
