Awareness and participation in adaptive snowsports is at an all time high thanks to Sochi 2014, armed forces rehabilitation programs and awesome charities such as DSUK.
Here at Onyx Snowboard School we think it’s awesome that even more people are able to have fun and enjoy everything the mountain has to offer, it holds a special place in Onyx-Baden’s heart as his Mum requires a wheelchair following a brain tumour and starts adaptive ski lessons this year.
One of the organisations leading the way for training and educating is The American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). They were one of the first to develop a clear pathway for instructors but have also been pivotal in the development of equipment and research. In another display of helping share the knowledge they’ve made their 2003 adaptive manual available for free .pdf download, wifi-hi 5 for that one guys!
You can download the AASI/PSIA 2003 adaptive manual here.
